Steven Song graduated with a Master of Musical Arts degree at the Yale School of Music in violin performance. He received his Bachelor’s Degree of Music from the Colburn Conservatory of Music, Master’s Degree of Music at the Cleveland Institute of Music (CIM), and studied at the Academy of the Music Institute of Chicago (MIC). Important teachers include Tai Murray, Jaime Laredo, Robert Lipsett, and Gerardo Ribeiro. Steven was a semifinalist at the Lipinski International Violin Competition, a quarterfinalist at the Elmar Oliveira and Shanghai Isaac Stern International Violin Competitions, and received awards from the Music Academy of the West (MAW) Duo Competition, Dupage Concerto Festival, and Society of American Musicians competitions.  He also won chamber music awards from the M-Prize, Saint Paul, and Rembrandt chamber music competitions. He has soloed with the Colburn Orchestra, Meadowmount Orchestra, SCP Philharmonic, MIC Academy Orchestra, among others. Steven was a member of the New Haven Symphony Orchestra and Symphony in C for two years. As concertmaster, he has appeared with the New York String Orchestra Seminar (NYSOS) Orchestra in Carnegie Hall, MAW Academy Festival Orchestra, and the CIM Orchestra. He has performed viola in chamber music groups with artists such as Joseph Silverstein. On piano, Steven has been featured on WFMT, won third prize in the Steinway Young Artists Competition, and appeared in recitals with violinists on numerous occasions. He credits his childhood mentors, Julia Tsien on piano and Jin Zhang on violin for educating and inspiring him to pursue music as a profession. Steven is a passionate educator and has held a private studio for over two years.
